Entry #10: Kids now vs kids then

Almost everyone has access to a cellphone. Including little children. When I was a little kid I never had a cellphone. When I was a kid I had hot wheels. I played with them in my back yard with my brothers and with my cousins. I didn't get my first phone until I was in high school. Even then I didn't have a nice phone. I had a flip phone. I grateful I had a phone.

Nowadays I see two or three year olds with Iphones walking around the stores. My little cousins all have phones that they use to watch you tube videos or to play games. What I noticed is that when you take the phones away from them its like their whole world is falling apart. That is the worst thing that a child can experience.

Kids that I have been around whether they be a part of my family or some of my friends family aren't like how me and my brothers were in the past. Some bond together now by playing video games together. My and my older brother would bond when we were little by riding our bikes. After we finished our homework we would go ride our bikes and race other kids in the neighborhood. Me and my little brother bonded by playing with hot wheels in the mud. We were always outside.

Another thing I've noticed is when the kids are misbehaving the parents give them their phones just to get them to be quiet. When I was misbehaving my parents would pull me aside and yell at me or hit me with their belt. Looking back at it now I'm glad they disciplined me when I was little.

I don't mean offend anyone or anyone's parenting techniques. This is simply my opinion and how I feel. This is how I view how today's kids behave compared to how my brothers and I as well as other people behaved when we were younger.
