Entry #8 The Police
One thing that I really hate that people say is that all cops are bad, all they do is arrest people because they want to. Well guess what, that's false people don't know that a big part of their job is doing paperwork.
Being a Mexican american police don't bother me. My parents are immigrants and they also don't like when people say that all they do is pull people over. But we also have to be truthful and say that there are bad police officers who are bad people.
In my government class in high school we had a class discussion about the law. In student then proceeded to say that she hated the police because they were all racist. They don't care about minorities all they do is arrest people because the feel like it. I was a quiet kid in that class but I was quite offended by that comment. Why? Well one of my closest relative.

Being a police officer must be difficult and scary. One of my favorite movies is End of Watch. This movie is a sad story about two police officer by the name of Brian Taylor and Mike Zavala. They patrol one worst areas of Los Angeles. They interrupt a Mexican cartels operatives and then they become targets. This movie takes us through their accomplishments as partners to the lowest point in their careers.
Why did I bring this up? This is a sad story. This movie shows how police act while on the job. The things they say and how they connect with one another. It showed how difficult their job is dealing with stubborn people. This movie was shot as if was a documentary.
I don't like when people talk bad about the police because they don't know the things they have to go through on the daily basis.
I guess you can say I am a little bias. But I believe that not all of police officers are bad. I do think that there are a few that ruin police officers reputation.

I like that you brought up this topic. It's trendy, especially among younger people, to put down the police as a whole and say things like they're corrupt or racist. It's dangerous to make blanket statements about an entire group of people without knowing each and everyone of them as an individual. Keep sharing your perspective.
