Entry #9 Fast Food.
Why is this picture interesting? Well, in ads on TV the food always looks delicious. It never looks like how it actually looks like in person. Advertisements on television is made to bring people into their restaurants. They do that by making food look like its beautifully made by a professional chef. It looks like a masterpiece.
People are led to believe that the food is fresh. When in reality. The meat is frozen and all the workers have to do is heat it up in a microwave.
Fast food has a lot of fat and sodium in their food that it can lead to health problems if you eat it often. Then with their low prices at almost every fast food place anyone can go in and buy a sandwich for a dollar.
One way that I can think that companies get people to buy their food is by competition. For example Chick-Fil-A against Popeyes. Popeyes went viral over a chicken sandwich they then called out Chick-Fil-A. Now the wait for a Popeyes chicken sandwich is like 40 minutes long. They did a great job of bringing in customers by using their social media.
Some people are willing to wait in hour long lines for a sandwich. Knowing that it's not anywhere near as healthy or as time consuming if you made a sandwich at home.
Television makes people think that a certain food that looks that good is as good as a home cooked meal. They picture it to be nutritious. It like how the saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover. But in this case don't think that fast food is as healthy as it seems.

Have you seen the news coverage on the new White Castle in Scottsdale? People are waiting ridiculous periods of time just to get sliders. You might appreciate this site: https://www.insider.com/fast-food-reality-versus-photos-promos-2017-3. They show side by side comparisons of the advertised image and what it looks like when you buy it. If you can find the time, it's always better to cook at home. You'll improve your cooking skills over time and reach a point where the only reason you eat out is if you want to avoid cooking for a lot of people or doing the dishes. It's a lot healthier than eating out all the time.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget that you also need to pull out the specifics of the ad you used to begin this post and anchor those pieces to the larger point you are hoping to make.
